AI · Sustainability · Operations · Design
I'm a builder and systems thinker with a career spanning sustainability, design, operations and enterprise transformation. I'm especially interested in what happens when deep subject-matter expertise meets AI — and I'm building things to find out.
Rooted in family, faith, and the belief that useful work should serve real people.
Trained in landscape architecture. Still drawing systems, at a different scale.
02/Currently Building
AI + Product + Landscape Design
An AI-assisted landscape planning platform that turns a homeowner's intent into a real planting plan — one that respects design structure, plant relationships, actual nursery inventory, and a budget.
The hard part was never generating options. It was defining what makes a plan good, and then enforcing it.
Also building: Farm Intelligence — a set of AI decision systems for a working family farm.
03/AI in the Real World
I'm most interested in AI when it leaves the demo and has to work inside a real system — with imperfect data, specific users, real constraints, and actual decisions attached to the output.
Intent, in their own words and their own units.
Records, feeds and site conditions, imperfect as found.
Interprets, plans, proposes. Never the last step.
Retrieval, forecasts, pricing, spatial calculation.
Rules that are not negotiable: spacing, load, budget, law.
Fails return upstream instead of reaching the user.
One recommendation, with its reasoning attached.
The model proposes. Deterministic logic and validation decide what is buildable, affordable and in stock. Every project on this site is drawn against this same spine, so the architecture — not the label — carries the credibility.

AI + Enterprise Systems
Applying AI inside large organizations, where the constraints are regulatory, the data quality is uneven, and the output has to survive an audit.

06/Design & Place
Landscape architecture taught me to think in systems — people, materials, movement, ecology, constraints, time, and implementation. It is where the rest of my work comes from.
07/What I'm Learning
All writingLessons from building and leading — written while the work is still in progress.
A demo has no consequences. A decision does. Almost everything hard about applied AI lives in that gap.
AI · DraftPeople, materials, movement, ecology, constraints, time and implementation. I just didn't call it systems thinking yet.
Design · DraftOption generation got almost free. Judgment didn't. That gap is where most of the interesting work now sits.
AI · Draft08/What Grounds Me
My work is shaped by a belief that people matter, stewardship matters, and useful work should ultimately serve someone. Family, faith, and place keep the rest of it in perspective.
09/Selected Advisory Work
I take on a small number of advisory engagements each year — sustainability strategy, carbon accounting and climate reporting, operational decarbonization, fleet strategy, and AI-enabled workflows.
